Does homeschooling really prepare a kid for college?

Homeschooling has it's pros and cons, but one of the hot issues is whether children who are schooled at home have the education and social skills to succeed in college.

In normal public high schools, its very common to be surrounded by drugs, sex, and violence. . unless you chooses to live this kind of live, there's no reason to deal with these things. These distractions hardly prepare you for college or the real world. Home schooling (unless the parent is crazy) doesn't have these things.

Home schoolers have the added benefit of learning subjects that interest them and they also have the benefit of being self starters. Home schooled children learn early on that they are responsible for their education. Because of this they work harder. and try harder. What college wouldn't want a student like that?

Homeschool kids haven't had the benefit of licensed teachers so they don't have the educational back

Has anybody heard of the word "sheltered"? Socially home-schooled children often become the target of public ridicule. Social acceptance is vital for survival in MANY professions. Connections in the professional world ARE important. .
