Women and rape

One common problem which almost all the countries face is rape. There are many victims who are not able to lead their normal lives because of one incident. Many people are of the opinion that dressing in a provocative way is one of the reasons for ra

No, rape is inhuman and cruel.

So does that make it normal for a woman to want to RAPE him?? YEah, turn it the other way and it sounds ridiculous!

What people don't understand is that rape is not about sex, it's about power and oftentimes hatred of women. Nuns have been raped, so have old grannies. The old maxim of "she was asking for it" doesn't hold water at all.

I love the analogy about covering oneself in blood and swimming with sharks! It totally dehumanizes men to the point that they have no free will and operate purely on instinct. I'd be insulted if I were a man.

Ok. Back to the human realm. The point is humans have a choice in how they act and react to situations. Granted their are predators among us who don't have much in the way of self control but odds are they would rape you no matter what you're wearing. If your truly without self-control then you don't even need an "invitation" to do what you want.

I like to use the analogy of the person who leaves his car door unlocked with the keys on the front seat. Has he done something to increase the risk of his car being stolen? Yes, much like a woman wearing skimpy clothes in a dark alley or not watching her drink at a party. Is it the man's fault the car was stolen? No. We are responsible for our own actions but that doesn't mean we are responsible for other people's.

Update:
( I mean there are predators)

There is no socially, legally or ethically sanctionable way to even begin legitimizing rape.

Rape is defined as forcing a sexual encounter upon an unwilling subject. We do not have the right to steal, to murder or to assault; rape is a form of stealing and certainly assault. What argument could even be made in it's defense?

the provocative clothing excuse is just an irresponsible attempt to shift the blame off of somebody, who cannot control their lust, onto the victim of a violent act...

Those who take women against their own will are cold-blooded and they deserve to go to hell. .

I don't believe that there are ANY reasons or justifications to rape a woman. That being said, it is naive to think that how we dress does not draw certain risks to ourselves. We put our cars in garages to help prevent them from being broken into, . does that mean if we park our car on the street than we deserve to be broken into? No. However, we know that when we park in the garage we are less likely to be vandelized. Again, there is NO acceptable reason to rape anyone, but we as women can . help protect ourselves by not dressing over-the-top provocatively. Sometimes it doesn't matter. A criminal will do as he wants, but I suppose we should be smart in all areas of our lives and do our best to protect ourselves. .

From what I've learned on Oprah (smile), rape is more about violence than sex.

Therefore, the "what you're wearing" idea doesn't really work. A rapist is hungry for power and violence and therefore, not so much for the sex.

Person_60

I think rape is rape and it doesn't matter what someone is wearing. There are thousands of men who

become aroused by what a woman is wearing and don't resort to rape. There are a handful that have no control and that's not someone else fault, it's theirs!

Yes, wearing provocative clothes calls for rape to take place.

Although Rape NEVER justifiable , that doesn't mean the "look" won't "entice" predators.

It is true that rape is an evil and unjustifiable action, however if a woman decides to dress provocatively she might find herself attracting rapists and other such trash. Arguing otherwise is like smothering yourself in blood and swimming with a sh.
