Should crime victims be allowed to say how they feel in court?

Should victims of crime be allowed to stand up in court and say how they feel and how they have been affected? Should murder victim's families be allowed to tell the judge how they have been affected by the criminal action of the person being judged?

I'm not even all that supportive of our judicial system but letting the victim set the punishment is revenge, not justice. I think things are as fair as they will ever be right now. .

I think it would be ridiculous to allow the victim choose the punishment. They are already blinded by their hate anyways. Justice and emotion are bad bad buddies.

It could sway the court to give stronger punishments

Who best to pass judgment than those wronged get rid of the judicial system and institute a justice system!

Don't be an idiot, what you are saying is just retarded. Without a middle man people would just take matters into their own hands and a lot of accidents would happen such as false accusations.
i agree with Lanfe4r, letting the victim set the punishment would encourage people to take matters into their own hands. if the victim could set the punishment, why would they bother with going to court? they'd just go out and kill the person who commited the crime.

Personal feelings should be left out completely. If a judge or jury is at all affected by emotion then they are not doing as they should. It is based on the crime not the emotion at the time.
