The American Superiority Complex

Let’s face it, we Americans believe we are right, that WE and OUR life style is the way to go. Anything else is “less civilized”. As a country we defiantly feel superior to all other national situations. The way we live our lives is the “r

No other countries think they're better than anyone else?

Stop blaming everyone in the country for what SOME people think/feel. Don't you see other countries who think they're better than US? Even Iraqis think we're swine and they're better, even though they kill in the name of religion. It's not an American thing, it's human nature.

Look at sports teams and high schools, colleges, etc. They have that complex for competition. It's a basic human reaction to back your own.

Americans definitely have a “my way or the high way” attitude.

Americans in general are very much in the mind set that they are superior to other nationalities.

I have had the experience to go to other countries in my life. I can tell you that in general I have seen Americans that I haven't even known act idiotically rude to other cultures. They feel that the other cultures don't deserve their respect. .

I was in Russia once and saw a group of American college student waltz into a restaurant drunk out of their minds poking fun at how the Russians were dressed and how they thought their food SUCKED. They were a picture of idiotic obscenity there. .

We don't care to try and learn other cultures or languages because we feel that ours is it! we ARE the last stop. OUR language is the master language and all must learn it to be successful in the world. In America SPEAK ENGLISH.

But heaven forbid that an American try to speak another language if THEY happen to be in another country. Americans simply don't give the effort. Europeans even have jokes that America is the only "unilingual" country in the world. .

I hate to do it but I must agree with you. I am an American from the United States. I now like to make that distinction after it was pointed out to me that anyone living in North Central or South America is also an American. It seems people from the United States have gone and hijacked the term to mean only them for some reason. Sometimes I am ashamed to be one of them.
